The Little Bird

The lost bird flys
and flys and flys
up towards the sun
and the clouds
and the skies.
Searching searching
far and wide
circles, spins
feels that it tried
but at the end of the day
when it returns to its abode
which is oddly alone
some twigs
some feathers
in the dark of night
with the stars shining bright
the little bird sits
and cries.
No one is around
to hear it s sigh s
as the little bird sits
and wonders why
and trie s and tries
but doesn't come by
with an answer to why
it is even lost
in the first place.
And with tears in its eyes
coughing through its cries
the little bird sighs
and raises its eyes
to Heaven.
And with a heart more than wise
it starts to realize
that it is never truly lost
as long as it remembers
that Someone much Greater
is standing nearby
offering as a Guide
to carry the burden
and lighten the load
and see things through
to the wa y they should be
and when the bird Surrenders
on High
all that it came by
till its tears run dry
and come morning sunshine
to see the little bird rise
as now lighter than ever
with a beat in its wings
the little bird flys
and flys
and flys
Home.
